YURI'S NIGHT 2009 & Polarstern Award Ceremony
1961, on the 12th of April, the first human - Juri Gagarin - orbited the Earth. This event is celebrated every year in a world-wide event. The Schikaneder cinema shows two exclusive movies, experts will present a show discussing the influences on society, politics or law which arose from this first flight and for the first time the Austrian Space Forum Polarstern Award will be awarded.

DIE WIEDERKEHR DES MARS – THE RETURN OF MARS
Sebastian Voltmer, D 2008, 58 Min - start: 18:00 Every two years, Mars comes close to Earth. Due to the opposition towards the sun, it can be observed extremely well. The photographer and director Sebastian Voltmer is documenting these approximations for more than ten years. 2009, the international year of Astronomy, he presents his new movie: The return of Mars.
JURI GAGARIN AND THE BEGINNING OF HUMAN SPACE FLIGHT
During a 60minute show, moderated by Johannes Grenfurtner, the achievement of Juri Gagarin and its various impacts are presented. Experts will show how the first human in space started manned space flight and discuss the influents of this event on society.
POLARSTERN AWARD CEREMONY
The Austrian Space Forum awards for the 1st time the Polarstern Award, which is donated with 800 EUR, to a man or woman who fascinates for space.
IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON
