Ein karges Gebiet mit Tephra It's a barren field with volcanic tephra, a reddish powdery dust covers the soil and a steep wall rises just in front of the site: This is not Mars, nor the Moon, but it might turn out to be one of the places where scientists and engineers of the European Space Agency and teams from AOES, TNO, French Air Force and the Austrian Space Forum place one of the many steps towards other planets. The Wingertsbergwand in Western Germany is the place to be for a series of field tests doing robotic as well as human exploration.

Public presentation of the spacesuit „Aouda“

Monday, 16th of March 2009, the Aouda Critical Design Review II took place in the University of Innsbruck. Aouda is part of the PolAres programme and is developed in cooperation between the University of Innsbruck and four Tyrolean high schools.

Back to silverish spacesuits: Aouda outer layer material choosen

The outermost layer of a spacesuit has to serve a multitude of requirements, even if it is for a simulated spacesuit. Especially, when beside technical border conditions, such as excellent mechanical protection, thermal issues and low electric conductivity also biological properties play an important role.
